Faith & Encouragement
A little hope for the days you need it
A note before we begin: I use the word God here because that is the language that feels natural to me. If that word does not fit for you, use the language that does—Higher Power, Spirit, the universe, energy, love, or simply something larger than yourself.
You are welcome here either way.
Some days, you do not need another checklist, another appointment, or another person telling you to “stay positive.”
You may simply need a quiet place to breathe.
Maybe you are carrying a loss no one fully understands. Maybe you are exhausted from starting over. Maybe you are trying to be strong for everyone else while quietly wondering when life will feel steady again.
If that is where you are today, this is your reminder:
You are not forgotten.
Not by God.
Not by the people who love you.
Not by the life still waiting to unfold in front of you.
Your life may not look like you thought it would. You may be grieving what ended, what changed, what you lost, or what never happened.
Faith does not require you to pretend that pain is small. It gives you somewhere to bring it.
You do not have to have the perfect words. A prayer can be as simple as:
“God, help me get through today.”
That is enough.
For Right Now
If everything feels like too much, you do not have to figure out your whole life in this moment.
Put your feet on the floor.
Take one slow breath.
And remind yourself:
I am here.
I am still becoming.
I do not have to know what happens next.
God, stay close while I find my way.
Then choose one thing for today.
Not ten things. One.
Drink some water. Answer the email. Take the walk. Make the appointment. Sit quietly for five minutes. Call someone who makes you feel less alone.
Tomorrow can have tomorrow’s work.
When You Feel Uncertain
You may not know what comes next. You may be making decisions you never expected to make—about work, money, family, health, housing, relationships, or your own identity.
You do not need the whole plan right now.
Sometimes faith looks less like having all the answers and more like taking the next small step:
- Getting out of bed.
- Making the phone call.
- Filling out the application.
- Saying no when you need to.
- Asking someone for help.
- Resting without guilt.
- Trying again tomorrow.
Small steps still count. Quiet courage still counts. Beginning again still counts.
When You Feel Alone
Loneliness can make hard seasons feel even heavier.
It can whisper that no one sees you, that you have missed your chance, or that your best days are behind you.
Those thoughts may feel convincing, but they are not the whole truth.
Connection may come slowly in this season: one conversation, one invitation, one support group, one class, one worship service, one neighbor, one person who understands.
You do not have to rebuild your whole life in one day.
Let yourself reach for one safe connection.
And if today feels especially heavy, please tell someone.
A trusted friend, faith leader, therapist, support group, or crisis counselor can sit with you in the hard moment.

A Reminder for Today
You are allowed to grieve and still hope.
You are allowed to be tired and still keep going.
You are allowed to need help.
You are allowed to begin again at 50, 60, 70, or beyond.
The chapter you are living may not be the one you would have chosen.
But it is not the end of your story.
There is still room for peace.
There is still room for purpose.
There is still room for joy.
There is still room for you.
Something to Carry With You
“You do not have to know the whole way forward. You only need enough light for the next step.”
